Lush Cosmetics Grand Opening Party on the Upper East Side

It's always nice changing up the weekend routine! This past Saturday, August 3, I decided to head over to New York City for the Lush Cosmetics Grand Opening Party on the Upper East Side. I found an invitation postcard on the counter at the Lush Cosmetics on 76th & Broadway and I simply had to attend! I've seen photos from past Lush store openings and I was so excited to attend!

The store opening was great. Besides the fact that it was a muggy, rainy day, that didn't stop me from walking from E 57th & 5th Avenue to E 86th and 3rd Avenue (if you're from or familiar with NYC, you know it's a long walk). Why did I do it? I figured I could use the exercise; and plus, I've never had the chance to explore the East Side. I immediately regretted it when I hit the halfway point because my hair had become comparable to a frizzy brillo pad, but I was on a mission! Sure, I could have taken a yellow taxi, which would have been wise, but whatever.

The Golden Ticket!

Anywho, the grand opening was great! I'm always the first one at parties or events so I thought I was going to be the first one there. NOPE! There was already a line at least 50-60 people long. New Yorkers kept stopping to ask what all the hoopla was all about, and all they cared about was if Lush was giving away free stuff. As a "Lushie" I was like "keep moving buddy...this place isn't for you"! A tad protective, I know, but my patience for people has been low lately. Wow...I'm blabbering!

The line outside Lush (see the umbrellas)
I was one of the first 100 guests to arrive, so I was given a shampoo bar, which was awesome because I've been curious to try them! The store was packed with fellow "lushies", a DJ was playing in the corner, and champagne (I think more like Mimosas) were being distributed along with cupcakes! HELLO HEAVEN!

Loved him! The one problem...he was blocking the Bath Bombs I wanted!
Could you imagine? "Good day, kind sir, could you please hand me that Twilight Bath Bomb?
Thanks! Rock on!"

I ended up spending more than I thought, as always, but it was really quite fun. I didn't stay long because I was sweaty, frizzy and my feet hurt, but the time that I spent in the store was well worth it! Lush always has great customer service, so I always love sparking up conversations!

I spy with my little eye, 9-5 Cleansing Lotion...my favorite makeup remover!!!
Can I have them all???
The best masks EVER! FYI: Catastrophe Cosmetic is my favorite!!!

♪ Heaven, I'm in heaven
And my heart beats, so that I can hardly speak
And I seem to find, the happiness I seek...

Please tell me that some of you know what I'm talking about here!!!
Again, when I paid, I got a free gift, which included a Lush handkerchief, which I will cherish; and upon leaving, I got to spin the wheel for another gift! Needless to say, I left with presents, and I will never complain about that!

Once I hit Jersey again, I spent the rainy day pampering myself with all my new Lush goodies, while spending the rest of the evening indulging in my guilty pleasure, Law & Order: SVU.

Bottom line, it was nice to do something different. I wish I could have spend more time on the Upper East Side, because I spotted a few other stores I would have loved to investigate, but I accomplished what I wanted to and enjoyed the day!

Are you a "Lushie" just like me???
What are your fave Lush products???
